The Tricentennial of the Town of New Milford

The settlement of New Milford begin in 1706 when John Noble Sr. purchased the right to a portion of the land known as Weantinogue. Then in 1707, John Noble Sr. and his daughter travelled to New Milford and built a fortified hut at the foot of Fort Hill.

The town of New Milford held many events to celebrate this 300th anniversary.
The committee buried a time capsule containing
artifacts of the year’s events on Memorial Day 2008.
