It's A Great Town...

Resident Feels Lucky To Live In New Milford

Reprinted from The Spectrum, July 9, 2004

To the Editor:

I will soon have the privilege of writing for the New Milford Tricentennial Publication Committee.

Perhaps that is why as I stood on the Green watching the Fourth of July fireworks, I felt not only a surge of patriotism but also a great sense of hometown pride.

Although I am not a New Milford native, my family has lived here for 13 years, and I have come to feel that this town is home.

And so, as I enjoyed the beautiful display of colors in the sky on a warm summer night and listened to the band play "Stars and Stripes Forever," I reflected on how lucky we are to live in such a wonderful place as New Milford.

New Milford is a community that is dynamic and yet still so accessible. Even though it has grown and changed a great deal over the years, it continues to maintain the quiet dignity of a small New England town. It is a town that proudly celebrates the spirit of America.

I look forward to learning more about the history and past citizens of our great town through my research for the Tricentennial Publication. And I especially look forward to profiling some of the interesting and successful individuals who are living here in New Milford today.
